David Crossland was born in 1967 in Bonn which was then the capital of West Germany and where his father was a foreign correspondent. David was educated at German schools until he was 16 and attended a school in Bristol before studying politics and economics at Exeter University in the UK.
He worked for Reuters for ten years, first in Frankfurt where he became chief financial correspondent covering banking, monetary policy and the wrangling that preceded the launch of the euro, and then in Berlin as their chief political correspondent. David is now a freelance journalist tracking the country’s rocky ascent to a new, bolder role in the world. He is bilingual and treasures his roots in the Rhineland. He is married with a son and lives in Berlin.
